The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of Azure SQL databases. This role ensures the availability and consistent performance of our applications. The candidate will also be responsible for the development and sustainment of the Azure SQL environments, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health, and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modeling in support of multiple development teams.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain Azure SQL databases within the organization.
  • Monitor system performance and database security to provide best-in-class availability and reliability.
  • Implement database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Perform database tuning and performance optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Plan and implement database migrations, and patches.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain database change control and testing processes.
  • Collaborate with developers to design and optimize database schemas, indexes, and queries.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases management systems such as Cosmos DB.
  • Implement and maintain database security (roles, users, permissions).
  • Perform capacity planning and forecasting for database growth.
  • Document database architecture, design, and processes.
  • Provide support for critical database issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Stay current with the latest technology trends, best practices, and industry standards related to Azure SQL.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in DBA
  • Should have a strong focus on SQL Server and Azure SQL database.
  • Understanding Sharding, Partitioning, and ETL Processes
  • In-depth knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent, are advantageous.
